Free, because per-unit pricing is a tax on growth.
Most property-management software charges by the unit. The incentive that creates is uncomfortable: if your tool gets more useful as you grow, your tool also gets more expensive. The tool is rooting against the same operator using it.
How we fund it
Compass is built around AI as a default surface, and that creates three durable, opt-in revenue lines that have nothing to do with the size of your portfolio:
- Premium AI capacity — free accounts get a generous allowance; teams that drive heavy automation can buy more.
- Optional managed hosting — if you don't want to run Compass yourself, we'll host it for you at a flat monthly rate that doesn't scale with units.
- Embedded financial services — opt-in payment processing, with rates we publish and a competitor can match. You're never locked in.
What "free forever" actually means
The current free tier — which is most of Compass — stays free. We won't quietly break it into a "starter" plan. If we add paid tiers, the existing free tier keeps everything it has today.
What we will not do
We won't sell your data. We won't run ads against your residents. We won't lock you in: every record exports as CSV or JSON, and you can take it to any tool that accepts those formats. If we ever lose your trust, you walk away with everything you put in.
