About
We are a small team that wants to make boring software faster and friendlier.
Compass started inside Yardi as an answer to a question we kept hearing: why isn't this software AI-native yet? The honest answer was that retrofitting AI onto a 30-year-old data model is a different problem than building an AI-first one from scratch.
So we did the second one. Compass is a clean-slate property platform built so the chat does everything the screens do — find vacant units, draft renewals, schedule HVAC, reconcile payouts — and so the data stays yours, exportable, and never per-unit-priced.
What we believe
- Boring should be fast. Most operator work is repetitive. Software should reduce it, not relocate it.
- Multi-company belongs at the core. Running ten companies should not mean ten logins, ten invoices, or ten chances for data to leak across them.
- Lock-in is a tell. If a vendor needs to lock you in, the product probably isn't good enough on its own.
- Free changes the conversation. When the tool is free, the question is "is this the right tool?" — not "is this worth the renewal?"
